Nicole Cathell (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. She gained experience in trauma-informed counseling and crisis stabilization while working for non-profit organizations in the Northern Virginia area. She helped open and run a Complex PTSD-specialized program where she worked as the lead clinical therapist. She has experience working in multiple settings including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, outpatient, and community-based treatment.

Nicole works with clients from all backgrounds, orientations, and identities. She has experience working with active duty and retired service members. Nicole specializes in counseling adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, work stressors, trauma, life changes, and challenges in relationships with loved ones or others.

Nicole helps clients understand their emotional struggles and learn where they may stem from. Clients are encouraged to explore how their past experiences affect their present state. Nicole uses a conversational and collaborative approach to therapy, and uses humor and authenticity to encourage clients to lean into being authentically them.
