About This Course
This sex positive social work webinar is a live, interactive 2 CE course and is designed as a primer to working with clients who engage in Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM) and / or Kink. We will define these and other relevant terms, and introduce the concepts and language that is most appropriate and inclusive to use in the clinical space. We will focus on the common topics and challenges faced by members of these communities and best practices for navigating them. This course will also explore common biases experienced by these clients and how to control for these in the clinical space.

Meet the Instructor

Christina Tosto, LCSW, LICSW, LCSW-C
Christina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the co-owner of Good Company Therapy Group in Northern Virginia. She earned her MSW from Catholic University, specializing in health-related social work, and trained at the Center for Post Traumatic Disorders in Washington, DC. Her clinical work primarily focuses on adult survivors of complex childhood trauma. Over the years, Christina has developed a niche in working with sexual minority communities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, those practicing Consensual Non-Monogamy, and those involved in kink. She believes that sex and sexuality are vital aspects of the human experience and is passionate about helping students and clinicians confidently integrate these topics into psychotherapy.
Learning Objectives
After attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Define Consensual Non-Monogamy and Kink using non-shaming and inclusive language.
- Identify two common therapeutic topics explored by clients in these communities and best practices for how to address them through psychotherapy.
- Identity two common biases about CNM / Kink and understand how they negatively impact these clients’ experience in therapy.
