About Julia
Julia Cogdell (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker passionate about creating a safe, supportive space for clients to explore challenges, heal, and grow. She is dedicated to culturally sensitive, equitable, and accessible care, believing in the power of resilience and the potential for meaningful change in everyone’s life.
Approach to Therapy
Julia tailors her approach to each client, blending attachment-oriented, trauma-focused, and mindfulness-based therapies. She prioritizes hearing clients’ stories and understanding the unique stressors in their lives, offering support with empathy, patience, and compassion. Julia works with clients across all relationship structures, including ENM and other non-traditional configurations, and welcomes teens and adults in-person or virtually in Virginia.
Education and Training
Julia earned her Bachelor’s in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology from Temple University and her Master of Social Work from NYU. She has experience in clinical, research, social services, and healthcare settings, including maternity care and perinatal mental health research. Julia is also trained in the use of EMDR for trauma.

Julia’s experience spans non-profit work, research, and clinical care. She has supported clients ages 16–75+ navigating chronic illness, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, and more. Julia integrates her broad background to provide informed, personalized, and trauma-aware care.
